Technology Development of ASR Volume Reduction in Co-processing in Cement Kiln

The residue of the abandoned vehicle after a pulverization process and recycling treatment is called the Auto mobile Shredder Residue (ASR). Due to the high calorific value of ASR and limited capacity of incinerator due to rectification, ASR exit from incinerator is the policy, so handling system have faced a bottleneck at present. In Japan, the method of ASR resourcezation has achieved great results in collaboration with a cement kiln system. In order to introduce ASR into the cement kiln successfully, ASR must be pre-processed and treated for volume reduction. Therefore, this plan aims at volume reduction treatment for ASR through carbonization to enhance transportation efficacy. Carbonized ASR can reduce 68% weight and increase the volume ratio from 0.11 to 0.32 which can efficiently increase the loading weight of a hopper car. In addition, the reason why ASR is carbonized is to make ASR have grindability and facilitate the introduction of a cement coal-grinding system. The primary components in ASR are foam and rubber. The ignition point of the foam in ASR is 200℃, and its carbonization temperature is 420℃ measured by DTG. On the other hand, the ignition point of the rubber in ASR is around 350℃, and its carbonization temperature is 500℃ measured by DTG. Thus, the temperature settings of the finally adopted carbonization equipment are 650℃ in the back section, 500℃ in the central section, and 350℃ in the front section. The above-mentioned temperature settings can totally carbonize ASR in 30 minutes, and the carbonized ASR can be ground to 74μm less to fulfill the requirement of cement mills. Hence, the carbonization of ASR can not only increase its grindability, but also reduce its 68% weight and increase its volume ratio from 0.11 to 0.32 in the meantime. Take GI HO CHEN ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. as an example for calculation, it yearly produces 12000 tons of ASR which can reduce 826 runs of loading vehicles and also reduce 225,108kgCO2e carbon emission generated from transportation. It is a beneficial pre-processing method for energy suppliers and the environment.
